Donations and contributions made to the Foundation by individuals or organizations are exempt from U.S. Federal and State Tax in accordance with the Foundation’s status as a 501(c)3 organization. Foundation assets earmarked for giving are dispersed in the form of grants to individuals and organizations that have demonstrable needs or requests that meet the guidelines established by the USRF.

Don Haider

Professor Don Haider was a faculty member at the Kellogg School of Management beginning in 1973. His responsibilities include the teaching of master’s degree candidates, directing the School’s program in public and nonprofit management, and being a member of Kellogg’s Executive Management Program. He specializes in the management of public and nonprofit organizations, public finance, and economic development.

Professor Haider received a BA from Stanford University and a MA and Ph.D. in political science from Columbia University. His governmental experience includes budget director and chief financial officer for the City of Chicago, deputy assistant secretary of the U.S. Treasury, and assistant to three directors of the U.S. Office of Management and Budget. He also serves on the boards of the Metropolitan Planning Council, the Midtown Educational Foundation, Chicago Catholic Charities, the U.S. Rugby Foundation, the LaSalle National Bank Corporation, Fender Musical Instruments, and Asset Acceptance Capital Corporation, and is the Vice-Chairman of the Chicago School Finance Authority.

Professor Haider is the only individual to be named both a Congressional Fellow (1967-68) and a White House Fellow (1976-77). He is the author of some 50 scholarly articles and more than 100 newspaper columns. His book, When Government Comes to Washington, is considered to be a classic in the field of intergovernmental relations, and several co-authored books on Marketing Places apply business marketing concepts to economic development for nations, states, and places.

Don sent this to us on 1/27/21 – Don Haider, age 78, is an Emeritus Professor at the Kellogg School, Northwestern University where he taught graduate courses for 43 years. A graduate of Stanford University, he received his Ph.D. in Political Science from Columbia University where he also taught. His academic honors include several award-winning books and articles, and being named a Congressional Fellow as well as a White House Fellow. His public service includes Deputy Assistant Treasury Secretary, City of Chicago Budget Director, and assistant to three directors of OMB in Washington. He also has served on numerous corporate and charitable boards including Board Chair of Stimsonite Corp and Catholic Charities of Chicago.
