Paul Kaler began his rugby career at eighteen years old in his hometown playing for the River City Rugby Club in Mason City, Iowa in the early 90’s. After an employment driven move, Kaler found a home with the Eastside Banshees of Minneapolis, Minnesota for the rest of the decade. A change in careers brought him to Wausau, Wisconsin where he was welcomed by the Wausau Rugby Club from 1999-2007. It was here he met his greatest supporter and lovely wife Sarah—a collegiate and club rugby player herself.
They soon moved to St. Louis, Missouri, where Paul joined the St. Louis Royals and began to put down roots. Paul won a national club championship with the Royals in 2017 while he and Sarah started the Kaler Family Foundation with the mission of helping athletes transition into college rugby.
Both avid rugby tourists, Paul and Sarah have participated and organized travel and play in England, Wales, Ireland, Scotland, France, Belgium, Holland, Australia, Argentina, and New Zealand.
Professionally, Kaler is a Territory Vice-President for HealthMarkets where he oversees insurance sales operations for Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Western Illinois. He has served on a number of other non-profit boards as well.
Most recently, Paul has helped merge his St. Louis Royals with the St. Louis Ramblers to form the St. Louis Royal Ramblers. He and Sarah are also eagerly rooting for their children, Jonah and Leah, as they begin their own rugby journeys.
