Las Vegas, NV (March 9, 2017) – The biggest playing field in Scrumble history took part in the 10th Annual Scrumble Charity Golf Tournament on Friday, March 3 at the exclusive Las Vegas Country Club. Eighty-eight players took part under sunny skies with temperatures in the low 70s.
After receiving their SWAG Bag, which included a Scrumble jacket (courtesy of Building Infrastructure Group), a polo shirt (courtesy of Presenting Sponsor, Rhino Rugby), a TaylorMade hat and a sleeve of TaylorMade balls, a golf print (courtesy of renowned golf artist Graeme Baxter) and more, the players had a light breakfast and then it was off to the range to loosen up. The players had about an extra 45 minutes to get their games in order as an overnight frost delayed play.
The contests on the course included Hole in One Contests on every par 3, including a $10,000 prize on the 161 yard, #14. Although no one aced the hole, first-time Scrumbler, Will Matthews, nearly went back to Ireland $10,000 richer as his tee shot settled just 7″ from the cup. Other contests included two Closest to the Pin holes; two Long Drive holes; and making its Scrumble debut, there was a Hole in Two hole featuring 8-time National Long Drive finalist, Kyle Blakely.
After play, the golfers enjoyed a sit down lunch, the always highly anticipated Scrumble raffle and for the first time ever at a Scrumble, golfers and guests were treated to the Rise of Rugby, an entertaining discussion emceed by past Eagle Tony Ridnell and featuring former England players Jason Leonard and Tony Diprose, and Scotland great Gavin Hastings.
