USA Sevens Rugby Charity Golf Classic Scrumble
San Diego, CA (January 22, 2017) – Get into the swing of things at the 2017 USA Sevens bysigning up for the 10th Annual USA Sevens Rugby Charity Golf Classic Scrumble. The 2017 Scrumble will once again take place at the exclusive Las Vegas Country Club on Friday, March 3, 2017. Play will get underway with a 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
Located just one block off the famous Las Vegas Strip, the Las Vegas Country Club is one of the most exclusive and best kept golf courses in Las Vegas. And it has one of the richest histories of any country club in the area as the Las Vegas CC was a hangout for many of Las Vegas’ most famous entertainers, including Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley and Dean Martin. It is said that Martin played the course every day for months on end.
Not only was the Las Vegas CC home to Hollywood’s elite, it was also the home to past PGA and LPGA events; the Sahara Invitational, Las Vegas Pro Celebrity Classic, Las Vegas Invitational and the Takefuji Classic (LPGA). Among the champions crowned were Jim Furyk, Davis Love III, John Cook, Paul Azinger, Greg Norman, Curtis Strange, Fuzzy Zoeller, Lanny Watkins, Christie Kerr and Lorena Ochoa. Now, you too can walk (or at least ride) on the same fairways that the stars and golf’s greats did by registering now for your spot in the 2017 Scrumble Charity Golf Tournament. There are only 120 spots available for this year’s Scrumble so sign up your group now.
This year, the U.S. Rugby Foundation has partnered with former England international Jason Leonard’s Atlas Foundation which supports grassroots projects using rugby as a way to improve the lives of some of the poorest people in the world.
Jason joins a growing list of past internationals playing in this year’s Scrumble, including, Gavin Hastings (Scotland), Troy Coker (Australia), and former Eagles Mike Saunders, John Mickel, Butch Horwath, Tony Ridnell, Gary Hein, Pat Johnson, Bill Fraumann, Bill Leversee, Don James and Brian Vizard. With more internationals expected to join in on the fun.
In addition to Hole in One contests on all par 3s, this year’s Scrumble will feature a Hole in Two contest as groups can enlist the services of 8-time World Long Drive finalist Kyle Blakely to hit their drive on the Par 5 9th hole.
Another new feature that is free to all golfers is the Rise of Rugby, a panel discussion about the sport with some of the past internationals listed above. The Rise of Rugby will take place after the awards presentation. If you are not a golfer but would like to attend the luncheon and Rise of Rugby, tickets are available.
The registration fee for the 2017 Scrumble is just $295 per player or $1,000 if signing up a foursome and includes:
There will also be the infamous Scrumble Raffle, which will include a lot of great autographed rugby memorabilia, as well as golf accessories.
