What We Support

Youth & Development

We help new youth rugby clubs and programs get started. From Ball Grants and Club Start-up Kits that provide the basic equipment you need to be successful, to supporting Inner City Youth & High School organizations launch new programs, we are helping to grow the game, from the ground up.

Pathways to Excellence

We help new youth rugby clubs and programs get started. From Ball Grants and Club Start-up Kits that provide the basic equipment you need to be successful, to supporting Inner City Youth & High School organizations launch new programs, we are helping to grow the game, from the ground up.

Coaches & Referees

We encourage high school and youth coaches to complete coaching and referee clinics sponsored by USA Rugby through Coaching and Referee Grants. Any coach or referee that has completed a USA sanctioned clinic and wants to host their own event, can apply to the program for consideration.

Health & Safety

We have long placed a great emphasis on injury prevention and support a number of studies and programs to minimize the risk of rugby injuries, especially when it concerns those in youth and high school competitions and programs.

Hall of Fame

The mission of the US Rugby Hall of Fame and Museum is to celebrate the history, honor the heroes, inspire the youth, and preserve the legacy of rugby in the United States. Each year we induct a worthy group or players, coaches, referees, administrators, journalists, and supporters that have helped move the sport of rugby forward in America.

Endowment

When you contribute to the endowment fund at US Rugby Foundation, it ensures future stability and a foundation on which to grow. The fund becomes part of the Foundation’s investment pool, and benefits from robust investment diversification and economies of scale.

"Higgy was a dear friend and a good mate. Every time he is mentioned in conversation or in an email it brings a smile to my face along with a flood of great memories. Not only was he a tremendous character, but also a world class athlete. I will continue to donate to his scholarship fund to keep his memory alive in the rugby world."

"I gave to the Higgins Scholarship Fund because he epitomized to me what the consummate rugby player was - great athlete , terrific field sense, and a hard as nails tackler who gave everything of himself on the field every game. Off the field he was the guy you wanted to be around because of his sense of humor and zest for life. You could not come into contact with him and not walk away with a smile on your face. Every rugby player should have a little Higgy in them, and if my donations can help someone do that, his memory will be preserved."

"The future of American Rugby is through young players traveling abroad to learn skills from top class Coaches. That’s why I donate every year."

"A line can be drawn between my financial support of the Higgins Scholarship Fund and the two primary educational goals of Dr. Thomas Arnold, Headmaster of Rugby School from 1828-1842. For nearly 200 years, rugby has supported education to help strengthen the middle class. In addition, our sport has promoted the development of leaders valuing courage, honor and respect, who became successful in their professions and, in turn, gave back to improving rugby and supporting those less fortunate in their communities."

"The South Shore Sharks, were desperately in need of new size 4's without any hope of proper funding without this generosity! With all of the uncertainties coming post pandemic we had slashed registration costs all while incurring new previously unforeseen costs leaving us without the ability to buy any new equipment . The US Rugby Foundation balls that were gifted are of a far superior quality to what we would have normally and are the perfect ball for our U-8's, U10's, U-14's and girls U-16's."

"We received the rugby balls that the US Rugby Foundation granted us, and we put them to good use! We are doing some friendly summer touch rugby on Friday nights, and the grant was greatly appreciated from all of us at Sahuarita Spartans Rugby Club. From the Coaches and all the players, we want to thank the Foundation for this generous donation. We are looking forward to our upcoming season."

"The Match Day Tent that we received from the Rugby Foundation has been a HUGE source of pride for our club! Since our program is a Summer Program, having the shade and protection has been wonderful for the players. Every match we have been to, the tent has been there standing proudly. Watching the boys and girls gather there and socializing before their matches and actually talking to each other and finding common ground and new friendships has been a true joy. Because of this success, we were invited to introduce tag rugby at the Baltimore City R&P Summer Camp where tag games were played with 25 kids for 2 hours and four mornings."

"The tent provided the needed shelter, the coaches from The Rugby Advantage adjusted the schedule for additional hydration, watermelon and shade breaks. The skills of the ruggers improved throughout the camp, and they were 'Made in the Shade'. On behalf of Rugby New Jersey, I want to thank the US Rugby Foundation for providing us with a much-needed personalized tent."
