Barb Fugate
Barb Fugate is the Executive Vice President, Chief Information Officer / Chief Security Officer of a commercial bank in Bloomington, MN. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy and Religion from Doane College, Crete NE, and later a Master of Arts degree in Psychology and Counseling from Pepperdine University, Los Angeles. In 2018 she earned a Master’s of Science in Security Technologies with a Management of Technology Minor from the University of Minnesota. Barb currently serves on the Advisory Board for the Technological Leadership Institute at the University of Minnesota.
Barb served as an Intelligence Officer in the US Marine Corps, and then began her banking operations and technology career in 1984. She brings a wealth of experience that includes all facets of technology infrastructure, security, compliance and risk management. In her role as Chief Information Officer, Barb manages the bank’s software and technology development teams and oversees the bank’s compliance with regulatory and cybersecurity guidance. She is an experienced executive with a long history of developing high-performing teams in IT and cybersecurity, exceeding risk management standards in the highly regulated financial services industry.
Barb was inducted into the US Rugby Foundation Hall of Fame as a member of the 1991 World Cup champion USA National Team. From 2000 to 2008 she served as the head coach of the USA U23 National Team, providing an elite player development role for the USWNT. In 2022 she received the Kathy Flores Lifetime Achievement Award from the US Women’s Rugby Foundation.
