Jim Perkins
After a long stint in the midwestern United States with the Chicago Lions and the Midwest Thunderbirds, Jim Perkins was named head coach of the United States Men’s National Team, the Eagles. Perkins served as the head coach of the Eagles from 1987 to 1991, including the 1991 Rugby World Cup Eagles team.
For the last 20 years, he has led the non-legal operations of Procopio, Cory, Hargreaves & Savitch LLP, an AmLaw 200 firm headquartered in San Diego, California. His duties include overseeing finance, human resources, administration, marketing, and business development, information services, and knowledge management.
Perkins is a member of Procopio’s Management Committee and in 2012 also became the firm’s Chief Compliance Officer (“CCO”) responsible for developing a firm Enterprise Risk Management Program. In his CCO capacity, he also serves as Co-Chair, together with the firm’s General Counsel, of Procopio’s Office of Risk Management and Compliance. Perkins Speaks regularly on law firm management issues and business strategy at conferences and international law firm network meetings. He also consults occasionally as part of the Procopio Business Advisors group. Perkins has a Ph.D. from the University of Surrey (UK) and an MBA from the University of Chicago, and a BSc from the United Kingdom. He is the co-author of Rise of the Legal COO, published by Ark Group (London) in 2017.
