Did You Know?
The US Rugby Foundation (USRF) has several college scholarships available, including the Kevin Higgins College Scholarship Program. This scholarship honors one of the most outstanding players to ever wear a United States Eagles jersey. Kevin “Higgy” Higgins, a dynamic number 13 who could hold his own at 12 and out-sprint others on the wing, was a three-time Collegiate All-American at Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo. Still a student when he earned his first of 28 test caps against Japan in 1985, Kevin went on to represent the U.S. at the inaugural two Rugby World Cups in 1987 (Australia) and 1991 (England), captaining the team three times—a testament to his skill and leadership. He also earned 16 caps with the USA 7s team, making three appearances at the prestigious Hong Kong Sevens Tournament.
The US Rugby Foundation awards up to ten $1,000 Kevin Higgins College Scholarships to deserving high school seniors who continue their rugby journey in college. These independent scholarships are open to all U.S. graduating high school rugby players pursuing their education and rugby careers at the collegiate level. For more information -> USRF Scholarships.
