James Wolfinger
James' involvement in Texas youth rugby dates back to 1993. As a then, new referee, he was asked to help devise the law variations for the TX JR High touch rugby competition. He refereed hundreds of local games as well as 3 appearances at the AAU Jr Olympics.
He founded St. Thomas High School RFC in 1999. They became a varsity sport in 2009. Still on board at STHS as the Director of Rugby (23rd year). One of the original founding members of the Houston Youth Rugby Association. Still a board member.
He is the Co-Founder of The Stormers HS Rugby Academy and U-17 Head Coach for the Stormers. He also coached on the Rugby Texas U-17 & U19 programs. James had a non-profit for a few years called Grow Houston Rugby, Inc. This effort was cut short due to a serious illness (now healthy).
He was chairman of 3 different referee associations in Texas over the years and pushed hard for high standards in performance and assignments in high school games. He has refereed many games in youth and adult rugby, including 3 assignments at the USA High School National Championships.
